The private tour begins at the Gellért Baths or the Central Market Hall, then we walk up the popular Váci Street to Vörösmarty Square. From there, we follow the Danube promenade (Dunakorzó) to reach the Gresham Palace, a jewel of Hungarian Secession architecture. Next, we visit St. Stephen’s Basilica in Pest, with its unique history and walls built in the shape of a Greek cross.
Further on, we continue to Liberty Square, once home to the Hungarian equivalent of the Bastille, known for its historical controversies, architecture, and frequent cultural events. Then we reach the Parliament, one of the largest in Europe, with its magnificent surrounding statues. Walking along the Danube, we enjoy a stunning view of the Margaret Bridge, built according to the plans of a French architect.
The final stop is Heroes’ Square, featuring 14 statues of Hungary’s great historical figures (a UNESCO World Heritage site), followed by City Park with all its notable sites. We conclude with a stroll through the architectural melting pot of Vajdahunyad Castle.

Next, we set off for the start of the tour. The order of visits will depend on your preferences or the day’s conditions. This route is the richest in monuments but also the most packed.
Wear comfortable shoes, as we will be covering a lot of ground.
The tour starts from the important commercial square in Pest. Of course, we can change the starting point according to your convenience.
We will leisurely walk up along the Danube on the Pest side and enjoy Budapest’s main tourist street, which is very calm in the morning. Once past the old city walls, we will arrive at Vörösmarty Square.
Continuing to follow the Danube, we will arrive in a new, very pleasant pedestrian district. But above all, we will arrive in front of one of the largest buildings in the city center: St. Stephen’s Basilica.
After the Basilica, we will approach Liberty Square (Szabadság tér) with its controversial landmarks. This large square is dedicated to open-air events. There will be plenty of interactive riddles before tackling the highlight just a hundred meters away: Kossuth Square and the Parliament.
Here we are at last, facing this majestic and imposing monument. But its surroundings are brimming with fascinating stories. You’ll learn all about the famous Austro-Hungarian monarchy and, of course, Sissi the Empress, Queen of Hungary.
After the Parliament, we will head to the grand Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere) via the famous Andrássy Avenue (Andrássy út) – Budapest’s elegant, tree-lined boulevard, a UNESCO World Heritage site often compared to the Champs-Élysées.
Once there, you’ll get a concise overview of the historical figures represented in the Millennium Monument (and more details if you wish). After exploring the mystique surrounding this iconic site, we’ll enter City Park (Városliget) to conclude the tour amid lush greenery, serene lakes, and the relaxing atmosphere of Vajdahunyad Castle and the Széchenyi Thermal Bath in the distance.
